Unspoilt alternative to Dubai with great activities...
If you are looking for an alternative to Dubai (where building work and traffic congestion is prevalent) then Oman is hot on Dubai’s heels!
Whilst sharing a common heritage with the UAE, Oman also possesses many unique features. The country's long association with the Far East, East Africa and the Indian sub-continent has led to a mixture of cultures. Together with the diversity and beauty of the landscapes, the almost totally unspoilt environment, rich bird and marine life, Oman is a wonderful place to visit.
Oman offers some fantastic activity opportunities including trekking, rock climbing, cave exploration and desert driving. With 1700 Km of coastline, and clean, unpolluted waters, Oman also offers many water based activities as well, such as diving, whale and dolphin watching, surfing, kayaking, swimming or simply relaxing on a beautiful beach.
Muscat, the capital city, is described as "Arabia's jewel”, a blend of the old and the new. Muscat is green as green can be and defies being classified as part of a desert country. The roads are lined with well-manicured green lawns and trees. Old Muscat has a quaint charm with many forts, castles, mosques and towers dotting the landscape. The Corniche, with its promenade and souqs (markets) is one of the highlights of the city. The old souq of Muttrah is ideal for tourists to hunt for keepsakes and treasures.
Muscat has earned a reputation amongst travellers as a land of natural beauty and friendly smiles, making it an exotic retreat – now with fabulous quality resorts.
After an early breakfast in the camp this morning we have an opportunity to sample some camel riding, quad biking and sand skiing before returning to Muscat.
Lunch stop en route.
Sunset Dhow cruise with cocktails followed by a traditional Indian dinner at Mumtaz Mahal situated in Muscat city centre.
