Guests were first flown to Botswana where they stayed at the luxurious Mowana Safari Lodge, situated on a bluff overlooking the Chobe River. This provided the perfect base for discovering the wonders of the Chobe Game Reserve where an impressive population of elephants, lions, leopard, warthogs, hippos, buffalo and much more were readily on show. This amazing array of wildlife was viewed on morning and evening game drives, as well as watched safely from a fleet of boats chartered to provide an arrival evening cruise on the Chobe River as a leisurely introductory experience.
The Lodge was only 70km from one of the great natural wonders of the World - the Victoria Falls. Continental invited the entire party to travel into Zimbabwe and Zambia, to view the falls up close from just across the gorge, before relaxing on a lunch cruise on the calm Zambezi slightly further up-river. Before returning to Botswana, there was time to shop in the local craft market, and for those who opted for the 'Flight of Angels' helicopter experience, there were even more majestic views to enjoy.
The fleet of privately chartered aircraft then flew guests to the idyllic Indigo Bay Island Resort on Bazaruto Island in Mozambique, home for the remainder of the programme. Owned by an Arab Sheikh who has spared no expense in creating a luxury hide-away, the arrival was even more special thanks to cooperation from local authorities who, for the first ever time, authorised the air fleet to bypass Vilanculos International Airport and cleared all passengers through Mozambique immigration and customs formalities on arrival at the Indigo Bay airstrip.
The second part of the Africa experience was dedicated to the art of relaxation, whether enjoying the resort beach and pool areas or sailing out to islets and sandbars for more private and romantic memories. There were also opportunities for the more energetic to go horse riding, dune-boarding, to explore the island by jeep and to head out into the Indian Ocean for deep-sea fishing in the Mozambique channel.
The destination gave guests the chance to discover other gems in the Southern Hemisphere. In particular many extended by going to Sun City, Cape Town and exploring the Garden Route coast of South Africa - a couple even flew on to The Seychelles.
The post-programme surveys prove that this was indeed a successful seminar full of unique memories.
